Gilbert

Gilbert is a suburb of Phoenix located roughly 20 miles southeast of the metropolitan area. The city has a population of 242,000 people and it is one of the fastest-growing communities in the state of Arizona. As recently as 2008 the city was ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States. The area offers plenty of amenities for its residents and it is also rated as one of the happiest places in the country.

The city got its name after William "Bobby" Gilbert who sold a plot of land to the Eastern Railroad Company back in 1902 to establish a rail line between Phoenix and Florence. Gilbert was originally an agricultural community before transforming into a small, affluent city by the late 1900s.
