Avondale is a moderately-sized suburban community located in the West Valley region of Arizona about 15 miles away from downtown Phoenix. Situated along the Agua Fria River, Avondale originally rose to prominence during the 1890s when the local Post Office in Clearwater, Arizona, relocated near Avondale Ranch.
Like many other communities in central Arizona, Avondale experienced a considerable increase in population during the 1990s. Originally incorporated as a town in 1946, Avondale is now a modernized city that provides its residents with easy access to the Phoenix metropolitan area.
